AUSTRALIAN DEFENCE FORCE
On 16 September 2021, Australia, the United Kingdom and the United States, announced a new enhanced trilateral security partnership (AUKUS). The first major initiative under AUKUS is Australia’s acquisition of at least eight nuclear-powered submarines. Defence has established a Nuclear Powered Submarine Taskforce led by VADM Jonathan Mead AO, which is working with the UK and US to identify the optimal path to deliver these submarines.

Minister for Defence Industry, the Hon Pat Conroy MP, signed an Australian Industry Capability Deed for the Apache Program between Defence and The Boeing Company (USA). The signatures between Defence and the Boeing Company (USA) committed each party to identifying, planning, and executing opportunities for Australian Industry within the AH-64 Apache Global Supply chain, enabling the future growth of Australia's local rotary wing industry.
WHAT WILL THE NEW AUSTRALIAN
AUKUS SUBMARINES LOOK LIKE
At the centre of Aukus - a three-way defence partnership between Australia, the UK and the US - is an agreement for Britain and Australia to build the first generation of SSN-Aukus submarines. They will be the largest, most advanced and most powerful attack submarines ever operated by the Royal Navy and eventually, replace Britain’s Astute-class hunter-killers.
THE VIRGINIA-CLASS SUBMARINES
AUSTRALIA WILL BE GETTING
The Virginia class, also known as the SSN-774 class, is a class of nuclear-powered fast attack submarines in
service with the United States Navy. Virginia-class Submarines are designed for a broad spectrum of open-ocean and littoral missions. They were conceived as a less expensive alternative to the Seawolf-class attack submarines, designed during the Cold War era. They are replacing older Los Angeles-class submarines, many of which have already been decommissioned. Virginia-class submarines will be acquired through 2043, and are expected to remain in service past 2060. Based on recent updates to the designs, some of the Virginia-class submarines are expected to still be in service in 2070.

THIS IS WHAT TO DO IF YOU'RE ON HOLIDAY AND
THERE'S A TERROR ATTACK
Detective Chief Superintendent Scott Wilson, the country's counter-terrorism coordinator, told Sky News on Monday that the decision to make the video was made in the wake of attacks such as those in
Sousse, Tunisia, in 2015, in which 30 of the 38 victims were British.
The video advises people to "run, hide and tell," in that order.
Wilson said research showed people "want to be aware of what they should and shouldn't do" in the event of an attack, and the video is also designed to provide training to representatives of the UK travel industry.
He likened the video to the airline safety briefing that takes place before all flights and stressed that authorities were not trying to dissuade members of the public from going to certain holiday destinations.
"We would say 'look at the Foreign and Commonwealth (Office) website and read the advice that they put on that website, spend four-five minutes watching this video, then go on holiday with your family and enjoy the location,'" he said.
